icare launches workers’ comp broker hub
NSW state insurer icare has introduced a broker hub to provide information on workers’ compensation developments and improve access to expertise and resources.
icare says the hub is designed to make it easier for brokers to support employers in creating safe and healthy workplaces and help injured workers return to work.
Brokers can find advice for employers seeking to lower premiums, including through discounts of up to 5% for upfront payments, and provide details on other rewards for safer employers.
Changes to the workers’ compensation scheme have included an overhaul of claim service provider arrangements. From the middle of this year, medium-sized employers can choose their provider, following the introduction of choice at the large end of the market.
icare says small businesses will also benefit from an overall lift in performance.
“The changes we have introduced are all about increasing the transparency and accountability of how claims are managed for injured workers and their employers,” group executive for workers’ compensation Tony Wessling said.
“I want more businesses to be able to select the most suitable claims service provider for their workplace, resulting in a better claims experience.”
Medium-sized employers have an average performance premium of more than $200,000. Staff numbers are usually over 300 but can vary according to industry type and other factors.
