Howden names new sport and entertainment head

Howden Australia has appointed Ben Hand as its new Head of Sport & Entertainment (S&E).

The brokerage established a global practice specialising in S&E sectors after the industry suffered crippling financial losses due to covid-related disruptions and issues.

“Ben’s appointment bolsters our existing capabilities in a hugely important specialty for Howden Broking and supports our journey to become a leading S&E insurance broker and risk adviser in our region,” Howden wrote in its announcement on LinkedIn.

Mr Hand joins the firm from Sydney-based CorpSure Insurance Broking, where he served as General Manager. He also has worked as a casualty and property underwriter for SLE Worldwide.

Prior to his transition into the insurance industry, Mr Hand played professional Rugby Union for 12 years, including stints at Super Rugby teams NSW Waratahs and ACT Brumbies.

Mr Hand will be based in Sydney for his new role.
