Growing Ausure City & Rural snaps up Adelaide AR

Ausure City & Rural has furthered its expansion with the acquisition of an Adelaide brokerage within the wider group’s authorised representative (AR) network.

MD Travis Miller says the company bought Ausure Insurance Brokers Adelaide following several other purchases in recent years.

“Ausure City & Rural began with me and just one staff member, and we have significantly grown since then,” he said. “Since 2018, we have purchased three other Ausure ARs, and we now have five experienced and knowledgeable staff.”

Mr Miller has worked in insurance since 2001, in roles with insurers, agents and brokers.

He was introduced to Ausure Insurance Brokers Adelaide Principal Terry Hopper – who was looking to retire – by Ausure GM Distribution Graeme Lilley, and the deal was completed late last month.

Mr Hopper, 75, began his career in 1967 at Western Insurance in Adelaide, starting as the tea boy and rising up the ranks. He later worked at the Sun Alliance Insurance Company and joined the Ausure Group in about 2008.

“We are pleased to pass this portfolio to Ausure City & Rural, as I feel my clients will be well suited with Travis Miller and the Ausure City & Rural team,” Mr Hopper said.

He says he is looking forward to retirement. “I have an active social life with friends and family, and I am looking forward to the small enjoyments such as watching train and music videos, listening to rockk’n’roll and dancing with my wife, who is much better than me,” he said.
