Gow-Gates marks 60th anniversary, looks to future
Broker Gow-Gates, which opened its first office in Parramatta, has marked its 60th anniversary with a celebration with insurance partners.
MD Anthony Gow-Gates says the company started as a small unknown broker, competing at the time against mostly foreign-owned brokers.
“To succeed we had to be better, so we punched above our weight and earned the trust of some of the largest companies and associations,” Mr Gow-Gates said.
“We created many firsts for clients and the insurance industry. To this day, this culture is still engrained in every broker at Gow-Gates - we earn trust, and we never lose it.”
Gow-Gates says the milestone serves as a testament to the company’s resilience and adaptability as it’s navigated through various challenges and evolving industry landscapes.
“As we embark on the next chapter of our journey, we remain committed to delivering exceptional service and innovative solutions to our clients, building on the legacy established over the past six decades,” it says.
Highlights over the six decades have included placing key insurances for the Sydney Olympic torch lighting ceremony in 2000 and organising insurance for the Rugby World Cup, while in 2015 it developed a mutual management capability and launched the first discretionary mutual fund for travel agents.
The company now has offices in Queensland, the ACT and Victoria and its website says it has more than 90 brokers.
The celebration event was held at Hickson House in The Rocks last month.
