Former Honan chief Fluitsma leaves Marsh

Marsh Pacific head of corporate and commercial Andrew Fluitsma has left the international brokerage.

Mr Fluitsma, based in Melbourne, was Honan CEO prior to Marsh acquiring Honan for a reported $700 million last year. He was appointed to his latest role in December as integration of the two businesses progressed.

At the time Marsh said Mr Fluitsma would transition into his new role, co-leading the corporate and commercial operations in the Pacific region with John Mutton. Mr Mutton’s LinkedIn account indicates that he also left Marsh in March.

Marsh today told insuranceNEWS.com.au it does not comment on “personnel matters”.

Mr Fluitsma worked for Marsh and Aon before starting with Honan in 2009. He was appointed CEO in 2018.

In 2021 he told Insurance News magazine that Honan’s young and diverse workforce was powering the company’s innovation and growth.

“We hired with a view to people that had that growth mindset,” Mr Fluitsma said in 2021. “Our average age is 29, and we’re 55% female. That’s reflected in our executive leadership as well. I’m 40, and I’m the old guy.”
