Finsura, Network Insurance Group brokers win NIBA NSW/ACT awards

The 2023 National Insurance Brokers Association (NIBA) Broker of the Year award for NSW/ACT has been won by Finsura Senior Account Manager Barry Sonter.

The region’s Young Broker of the Year award went to Network Insurance Group Account Director Joel Morrell.

The national winners will be revealed on October 8-10 at the 2023 NIBA Convention at The Star, Gold Coast.

Mr Sonter and Victoria/Tasmania winner Marsh Corporate & Commercial Leader Victoria Nick Hodges will compete against yet-to-be revealed winners from WA, Queensland, and SA/NT for the national QBE sponsored 2023 Broker of the Year award.

The award ceremony for WA is tomorrow, and for Queensland and SA/NT next week.

Mr Sonter “demonstrated excellent customer service and expertise, and the resulting positive impact on his local community is truly significant,” QBE Australia Pacific MD Business Elliot Hill said. Other finalists were Gow-Gates Insurance Brokers Director ACT Helen Bullock and Quantaco Insurance Brokers Divisional Manager John Kay.

“Congratulations to all the finalists, who should be proud of their commitment, passion and dedication towards the broking profession,” NIBA CEO Philip Kewin said.

“Every year, these awards give us an opportunity to recognise standout talent who live by and embody the values of professionalism that make our industry proud.”

Mr Morrell and Victoria/Tasmania winner Marsh Principal Corporate Olivia Hancock will now compete with three other regional winners for the national 2023 Vero sponsored Young Broker of the Year award.

"Joel has shown a strong commitment to the professional development and personal well-being of his team,” Vero State Distribution Manager NSW/ACT Yusuf Alexander said. "We are excited to continue supporting young leaders like him across the country.”

Other finalists in that category were Network Insurance Group Account Manager Grant Zorad, and AEI Broking Group Account Manager Jordan Caleo.
