Ex-fire chief leads NIBA conference line-up

Former NSW Fire Service commissioner Shane Fitzsimmons will be the headline speaker at this year’s National Insurance Brokers Association Convention.

He will give a keynote address detailing three decades of experience in emergency services, including handling the 2019-20 Black Summer fires and lessons learnt in building resilience.

Mr Fitzsimmons also served as the inaugural NSW commissioner of resilience from May 2020 to December 2022, and was named the state’s Australian of the Year in 2021.

NIBA CEO Richard Klipin says Mr Fitzsimmons’ insights “will be invaluable in showcasing the importance of risk mitigation and building community resilience”.

The association says this year’s convention – from October 20 to 22 – will feature more than 51 speakers at 21 sessions, with more than 800 attendees expected over the three days.

Early bird tickets are available until August 31. Click here for registration information.
