Engineering insurance expert Barry Regan retires

Miramar Senior Engineering Underwriter Barry Regan is retiring after 35 years working in the insurance niche.

Miramar Engineering Team Leader Joel Edwards says Mr Regan’s hallmarks are consistency and communication, and his advanced skills are well respected by peers and brokers.

"He’s bowing out on a strong note, having grown the Miramar engineering business substantially and helped build a quality team to take it forward,” Mr Edwards said. “It’s been a pleasure working alongside him.”

After qualifications as an electrician and in refrigeration and air conditioning, Mr Regan says he replied to an ad from Machinery Insurance Services, which was partly owned by Zurich. After 15 years, he moved to CGU to underwrite contract works insurance, and then to QBE in contract works looking after the Housing Industry Association book.

He has held his current role at Miramar for almost six years.

Miramar’s engineering underwriters Dey Kuzmanovic and Michael Dandy have many years of experience and “it will be nothing less than business as usual,” Mr Regan says, adding he plans to “step back, let my hair down, travel Australia and do some cruising”.
