Criterion moves into New Zealand

Waste and recycling insurance specialist Criterion Underwriting is expanding into New Zealand, building on its operations across Australia and in Britain.

MD Sam Mayne says New Zealand has been on the radar for some time, while Commercial Director Jeremy Priest says the team sees it as a natural step and is well prepared to introduce its specialised cover.

“Given the limited market for waste and recycling insurance, our expansion opens doors to tailored insurance solutions for a highly specialised industry,” Mr Priest said.

“We look forward to providing our new and existing broker partners with a streamlined process and a one-stop shop for managing hard-to-place property and liability risks.

“We’ll be leveraging our extensive expertise in property and casualty insurance to address the unique challenges of the New Zealand market, further solidifying our reputation as a comprehensive solution provider for hard-to-place risks.”

Brisbane-based Criterion has been working with mining and hard-to-place property risks for five years.
