Community Underwriting grant program supports 52 causes
Community Underwriting is supporting 52 projects this year through its annual Small Grants Program.
The projects getting funding from the program include a sensory room program for people with dementia, a Shine and Strength personal development and mentoring program for young children and a help scheme for women and children who have fled domestic violence.
Community Underwriting is majority-owned by its larger not-for-profit (NFP) clients. It operates under a business model in which more than 70% of annual surplus is returned to NFP shareholders as donations and 5% to clients who renew their insurance via the grants program.
Community Underwriting’s insurer partners Berkley Insurance Australia and Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Company provide additional contributions, which enables the agency to respond to a greater number of worthy projects each year.
“Our annual donations to NFP shareholders and the Small Grants Program enable us to continue to reinvest our clients’ insurance dollars back into the sector every year,” Community Underwriting says.
“Since Community Underwriting commenced operations in 2014, we have now donated more than $8.9 million to clients/shareholders in the not-for-profit sector.”
