The Insurance Brokers Code Compliance Committee will host a webinar on February 28 to help brokers complete their annual compliance statement.

The session will feature information and tips from committee Senior Analyst Amanda Rosario and Senior Manager Daniela Kirchlinde ahead of the statement’s March 31 deadline.

Each year, subscribers are asked to inform the committee of any recorded code breaches or complaints against them. 

Last year’s committee annual report recorded an increase in reported breaches and complaints, rising 55% and 61%, respectively.   

But Chairman Oscar Shub warned there were “serious concerns” that many brokers continued to understate issues, after 175 reported no breaches and 152 reported no complaints. 

“We have put great effort into encouraging better attitudes and practices to compliance and reporting, with some success,” he said in September. 

“But, unfortunately, not all brokers have taken this message on.”
