Clover hopes to relaunch home product soon

Tech-focused underwriting agency Clover says it is close to finding new capacity for its popular home and landlords product, as it continues to grow across other lines.

RAC previously backed Clover’s home, motor and business pack products, but in January the insurer refocused on WA direct personal lines.

Clover CEO Blair Nicholls told insuranceNEWS.com.au motor is now underwritten by Adica and business pack by Allied World.

“We’re working with partners that have in-depth knowledge of their areas, which is great for us,” he said.

“On home insurance, we are still in discussions with people. We are hoping to get it done soon.

“All of the portfolios were profitable. So it’s just about finding someone with the capacity and the desire to do these things.

“You would have thought people would jump at it, but it’s not as quick and easy as that. Insurers are under different pressures at different times, and different management teams have different ideas.

“Our objective is to work with a carrier long-term. We get the best result that way for us and the carrier.”

Mr Nicholls says Clover is still growing fast and will soon introduce a professional indemnity product for small and micro-businesses.

“We’re getting really good support from brokers, and all our products are system underwritten. You’ll always get an answer out of Clover, rather than having to wait weeks for referrals.”
