Clear Insurance in running for Best of Business award
Brisbane-based brokerage Clear Insurance has been named as one of six Queensland finalists in the Accelerating Women Category for the 2023 Best of Business Awards.
Clear Insurance was recognised for ongoing commitment to building exciting and sustainable career pathways for women within insurance broking.
In 2010, MD Lisa Carter founded Clear Insurance, which places cover for the construction, hospitality, and medical industries, and is the only endorsed adviser to the RSL & Services Clubs Association Queensland. It was named ANZIIF Small Broking Company of the Year in 2022.
“Thirteen years ago, I took a leap of faith. I left the corporate arena and launched Clear Insurance as a solopreneur with a clear vision – to provide client-centric risk and insurance advice, and to help other women in my sector build successful careers while balancing family life,” she said.
Ms Carter, the first female to receive the NIBA Stephen Ball Memorial Award, says there are “still no clear pathways” into or within the insurance broking industry, making it difficult to attract school leavers and graduates.
“We have a talented all-female crew of nine committed to making complex and hard-to-place risk and insurance easy for business leaders,” she said. “When women have access to the mentoring they need to succeed, it can make an extraordinary difference to their career success.”
The Telstra Best of Business Awards were created 28 years ago to give small and medium-sized businesses a platform to celebrate achievements. There were 22,000 submissions nationally to the awards this year, and there are 428,000 small businesses in Queensland.
