Aviso team supports Movember fundraising campaign

Aviso Broking has raised $5445 to improve men's health and wellness as 23 team members took part in the Movember Foundation fundraising campaign to promote men's health awareness.

The campaign, in which participants can don a moustache for the month of November, funds medical research, programs and innovative treatments.

Aviso says the initiative led to more than “just well-groomed moustaches and a successful fundraising tally,” and created a deeper understanding of the challenges men face and crucial support needed for their wellbeing.

“A shoutout to every individual from within our team for really stepping up and supporting this important cause,” Aviso said.

“From hosting in-house fundraising events to offering unwavering support, each contribution played a crucial role in making this initiative a success.”

Finance Manager Agi Nambissan won Aviso’s inhouse Best Grown Mo vote – “he knows how to make facial hair a real work of art,” the brokerage said.

Aviso Queensland GM Todd Ferguson reveals says he has moved from scepticism about mental health issues to a “profound understanding”.

“I guess this stems somewhat from my upbringing and being part of Gen X. I imagine there’s many of you out there in that 40-55 age group that can relate,” Mr Ferguson said.

"In the last 18 months, I’ve seen firsthand the devastating impacts of anxiety and depression on those I hold closest and dearest to me. The issues surrounding mental health have become all too real for me,” he said.

"It’s widely acknowledged that men’s health is in crisis. A mo definitely does not suit my mug but this is for such a good cause I am happy to break all the mirrors in my home for a month.”

On average, men die 4.5 years earlier than women, and 10.8 million men grapple with a prostate cancer diagnosis globally while testicular cancer ranks as the most common cancer among young men worldwide. Males account for 69% of all suicides.
