Ausure Newcastle acquires Byron Bay, Mudgee branches

Ausure Newcastle has acquired NSW brokerages Ausure Byron Bay and Ausure Mudgee.

The Byron Bay business was established in 2005 by Mick Urquhart, who has worked in insurance for over 45 years and plans to retire after assisting with the transition. The sale was finalised within eight days, made easier as both businesses are Authorised Representatives of Ausure.

“We are so happy to have sold to Ausure Newcastle as they already have a connection with the area. I am confident clients will continue to receive the service they have become accustomed to,” said Mr Urquhart, who now plans to “hopefully improve my golf, keep fit, fish and travel”.

Mudgee branch owner Craig Brennan, 64, founded his brokerage with Tony Powell in 1983. He will continue in an advisory role and plans to eventually retire to the UK where his daughter and grandchild live.

Ausure Collective Principal David Summers says the Byron Bay acquisition reflected “not only our deep-rooted passion for the coastal lifestyle but also our commitment to expanding our presence in thriving, vibrant communities”.

“Byron Bay's unique charm and energetic atmosphere have drawn us in. This acquisition marks a significant step forward in our journey,” Mr Summers said.

Ausure Mudgee is “a fantastic fit” and an “opportunity we couldn't pass up,” Mr Summers said, and complements existing Ausure branches in Dubbo and Orange.
