ANZIIF to present broking award in December

The Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance (ANZIIF) is seeking entries and nominations until August 25 from brokers for this year’s Making a Difference recognition awards.

The Broking category winner for 2023 will be crowned at the ANZIIF General Insurance Breakfast on December 6.

Insurance professionals are encouraged to enter themselves, or nominate a peer who has demonstrated outstanding professionalism, commitment, achievement and passion in the insurance industry.

ANZIIF GM Industry Engagement Mark Silveira says the awards “shine a spotlight on our quiet achievers".

"By celebrating the success stories within our industry, we can continue to uplift our peers, highlight the great work we do and raise the profile of insurance in the community,” he said.

The awards are part of ANZIIF’s Year of the Insurance Professional initiative and highlight individuals who have gone “above and beyond” to display professionalism. Winners receive a prize valued at $500, a feature profile on the ANZIIF website and a digital badge verifying their award.

Last year, Townsville-based Nutrien Ag Solutions Divisional Insurance Manager North Queensland Rebecca Gilbert won the broking award. She was praised for being a trusted adviser to her local community and supporting customers located in remote areas of Australia who struggled to access professional broking services for their farming business.

Auckland-based Frank Risk Management Senior Broker Anna Parker won Making a Difference New Zealand last year.

Entries must be a video presentation of no longer than 5 minutes with a brief career synopsis stating what attracted the applicant to broking, an outline of roles held and “the one thing you love most about your industry”.

An example of contributing to improving the customer experience within the insurance industry, and the impact that had on the customer, your organisation, and the community, is also required.

In other Making a Difference award categories, the Claims winner will be announced at the AICLA/ANZIIF Claims Convention on September 28, the Underwriting winner at the UAC Adelaide Expo on September 14, and the Life winner at the ANZIIF Group Life Seminar on September 5.

The General Insurance and Reinsurance winners will also be revealed at the ANZIIF General Insurance Breakfast in December.
