50 brokers volunteer to help flood claimants
The National Insurance Brokers Association (NIBA) is about to launch its Claims Support Initiative for the east coast floods catastrophe, with 50 brokers already stepping up to help.
The scheme would put claimants who don’t already have a broker in touch with an intermediary to offer free advice and expertise.
“There is great confusion, and many people are unsure where they stand in relation to insurance,” NIBA CEO Phil Kewin said.
Mr Kewin believes the service will also help claimants emotionally, and he says insurers have been quick to support the idea.
“We’ve had insurers contact us and say ‘just let us know what you need from us to help’,” he told insuranceNEWS.com.au.
There is still time for brokers to volunteer for the initiative. Email info@niba.com.au.
