Allianz 'did not have proper oversight'

Ms Orr outlines again the series of events regarding the website errors and asks Ms Callahan to explain how it could happen.

The errors relating to travel insurance first appeared in 2012. Concerns were expressed in Q3 2015, and further problems were highlighted in 2016. But the errors, which were also repeated across hundreds of partner websites, were not corrected until this year.

Ms Callahan accepts there was not "the oversight and proper challenge by corporate compliance."

She also says Allianz "did not have a sufficient understanding within the business as to what false and misleading content might mean for the customer".

She says the proper framework is now in place.
