Add-on remediation raised

Allianz add-on insurance sold through car dealerships is raised as an example of the insurer's failure to monitor third-party distributors of its products.

Ms Orr refers to a series of products such as gap insurance, consumer credit insurance, tyre and rim insurance and extended warranties that were mis-sold.

Remediation agreed with ASIC resulted in payments of $45.6 million.

Ms Orr suggests Allianz has "broader problems" monitoring authorised representatives, and Ms Callahan accepts there were "failures in that area".

"Do you accept Allianz needs to invest more to improve supervision and monitoring of third-party distributors?" Ms Orr asks.

Ms Callahan replies that it is "happening now".

"This is another thing that you've started?" Ms Orr asks.
