WorkCover WA conference postponed as state battles worst covid outbreak
WorkCover WA says its conference planned for May 25 has been postponed until later in the year because of the ongoing covid outbreak in the state.
“With the revised definition of close contact, new isolation protocols and likely changes to border controls, it is anticipated the covid numbers will surge over the coming months,” WorkCover WA said.
“It is WorkCover WA’s intent for the conference to be held during the spring months and a new date will be released soon.”
WorkCover WA says the decision to delay the event will enable participants to have the best opportunity to connect and enjoy the conference face-to-face with delegates, at a time which is more suitable for all.
WA is currently seeing its worst covid outbreak since the pandemic broke out in March 2020. Level one public health measures extended across the state today and Premier Mark McGowan has not ruled out taking tougher measures to contain the spread of the virus.
“I think it's inevitable there will be some form of enhanced restrictions,” Mr McGowan was quoted as saying on the ABC News website.
There are now more than 4700 active covid cases in the state.
