WA launches bushfire management agency
The WA Government has established an Office of Bushfire Risk Management to independently assess the risks of prescribed burns.
The new agency comes as a response to the special inquiry into last November’s Margaret River bushfires, which destroyed 32 homes and nine chalets and burned out more than 3400 hectares of bush.
The office will report directly to the Fire and Emergency Services CEO, who can direct that a burn be delayed or cancelled.
