WA commission goes the distance to settle claims
Insurance Commission of WA (ICWA) claims officers and legal representatives hit the road last week to settle motor injury claims in the remote Pilbara and Kimberley regions.
The team is covering more than 7000km during a nine-day trip to meet claimants from 10 communities.
ICWA has run road trips for the past five years, winning positive feedback from claimants in remote areas that often lack full access to services.
“This is why we go to the claimants instead,” CEO Rod Whithear said.
“Settling the claim helps people move on with their lives. Road crashes are a traumatic time for people and their families, but the insurance claims process doesn’t have to be.”
ICWA received about 217 new motor injury claims from the Pilbara and Kimberley regions. Settlement negotiations will involve up to 60 claims, running to millions of dollars.
