Victorian grant scheme tackles worker illnesses
The Victorian government has announced a new round of investment grants focused on reducing workplace disease and illness risks.
Awards of up to $300,000 are available through the WorkSafe grants program to provide equipment, technology or other solutions that minimise the threat of issues such as dust-related disease or hearing loss.
The regulator says the funding will help programs aimed at risk management, prevention, intervention, training and education, research and support for people affected by occupational illnesses.
WorkSafe provided $1.45 million under last year’s grants program, which supported the state’s networks of health and safety representatives across several industries.
WorkSafe Minister Danny Pearson said: “Making sure we continue to evolve and adopt best practice in occupational health and safety is essential to achieving positive outcomes for Victorian workers.
“These grants provide an incredible opportunity for organisations to be a part of designing and delivering the future solutions for some of the biggest issues facing our workplaces and the Victorian community.”
Eligible organisations, unions and employer representative groups can apply for grants until August 6. Click here for more information.
