Victorian Emergency Services Commissioner Bruce Esplin has decided to stay in the role despite being ruled out for the new Victorian Fire Commissioner position.

The State Government has said his lack of operational fire experience – he has been Emergency Services Commissioner for 10 years – means he won’t be considered for the new role.

Mr Esplin said on ABC Radio that he didn’t see the new position as duplicating his role.
