Victoria steps up cladding audit
The Victorian Building Authority has written to builders and property developers enquiring about the type of cladding they intend to use on buildings under construction.
It has contacted more than 800 companies and individuals as part of a state-wide cladding audit.
The authority recently received $16.5 million from the State Government to increase site inspections and address non-compliant cladding.
Building surveyors are being asked to review permit documentation, and property developers have been told not to use combustible cladding unless approved by the Building Appeals Board.
Failure to respond to the request may result in disciplinary action.
