Terrorism insurance pool seeks detailed address data
The body that runs the Federal Government’s terrorism reinsurance scheme says it will soon require extra address information for exposures in key postcodes.
From July 1 next year the Australian Reinsurance Pool Corporation (ARPC) will ask insurance cedants for street addresses of properties in the 2000, 3000, 4000, 5000 and 6000 postcode locations of Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth.
Sums insured for business interruption and contents will also be required, whether or not there is a sum insured on a building for that postcode, the ARPC’s autumn newsletter says.
Street addresses will enable more accurate loss estimation models, the corporation says.
The ARPC was established in 2003 following the September 11 2001 attacks on the US, after which terrorism cover became generally unavailable.
