Tasmanian broker guilty of dishonest conduct
A former Launceston insurance broker will be sentenced on Friday over his dishonest conduct around financial products and fees and charges.
Brendan Manion, 60, appeared in the Launceston Magistrates’ Court last week and was found guilty of six counts of dishonest conduct relating to financial products and services and two counts of failing to provide written particulars of fees and charges.
The charges follow an investigation by the Australian Securities and Investments Commission into Mr Manion’s conduct between July 2001 and September 2004 when he was the sole director and principal of Brendan Manion Specialist Insurance Intermediary.
He has previously pleaded guilty to one count of altering books in his possession and has faced court over dishonestly failing to disclose the broker fees on invoices issued for insurance cover by his company.
