Tasmania says CTP premiums 'remain the lowest'
Tasmanian compulsory third party (CTP) premiums remained the lowest in Australia last financial year, Infrastructure and Transport Minister Michael Ferguson has told a hearing.
The premium for a standard motor vehicle remained at $282 after no general increases were put through, which compares to a highest interstate premium of $591, Mr Ferguson said at a Government Business Enterprise hearing last week.
“This is despite Tasmania providing arguably the most generous level of benefits to injured motorists and being one of only three states offering full no-fault benefits,” he said.
The Tasmanian scheme is run by the Motor Accident Insurance Board, which in the past financial year supported 1923 people involved in vehicle accidents, down from 240 the previous year.
