SIRA partners with insurers to boost workers compensation support
NSW’s State Insurance Regulatory Authority (SIRA) has announced collaborations with Aldi, Toll, and Catholic Church Insurance as part of its new Workers Compensation Assist program.
The scheme will see the regulator proactively make calls to partnered insurer workers at risk of delayed recovery times.
SIRA CEO Adam Dent says the initiative aims to ensure workers have the available information to navigate through claims as it works off the progress made by its CTP assistance program.
“Early access to support in the initial stages of a claim results in better recovery outcomes down the track,” Mr Dent said.
“In the first 10 weeks of the pilot, 85% of customers reported an improved understanding of their return to work and recovery as a result of Workers Compensation Assist.”
Mr Dent implored workers with psychological impairments, Covid-19 claims, or physical injuries to contact SIRA to assist them with their claims process to “take an active role in their recovery”.
He thanked the early partners of the scheme and welcomed other insurers to the program to improve support to their injured workers.
Aldi National Work Health and Safety Director Simon Borham says SIRA’s presence has been “a positive additional resource” in ensuring employees can effectively work with its claims teams.
“Aldi employees are reporting a positive experience from the pilot and the insights provided by SIRA each month help us drive continuous improvement within our workers compensation program,” Mr Borham said.
