SIRA advised to improve information-sharing
A report commissioned by the NSW State Insurance Regulatory Authority (SIRA) has recommended the body improve injured workers’ access to information.
SIRA should establish a claims administration manual that sets out practical steps and directions for sharing information with workers, according to the report.
It should also consider amending relevant legislation to recognise a worker’s right to information, and align its obligations to provide access with state and federal freedom of information laws, the report says.
Insurers should be educated about their obligations under federal and state privacy legislation.
