SA freezes WorkCover rate
WorkCover SA will hold its average premium rate at 2.75% of wages for the coming year.
Chairman Jane Yuile says an improvement in the scheme’s financial position means no increase is required.
She says improved claims management is expected to continue.
In December the scheme actuary calculated the rate needed to be 3.13% for WorkCover to break even, a fall from 3.34% six months earlier.
SA has the country’s most expensive scheme for employers. This will be the fourth year the average rate has been held at 2.75%.
The current Victorian rate is 1.298%, while WA has announced a rate of 1.556% for next financial year.
