Regtech forum seeks to foster understanding
The Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) will hold a Regtech Showcase in Sydney as it looks to foster greater understanding of the sector.
Regtech is technology designed to meet regulatory and compliance requirements more effectively and efficiently, and the September 18 event aims to stimulate engagement, explore opportunities and barriers to regtech deployment, and find areas for collaboration, the regulator says.
“ASIC does not regulate regtech directly, but we do want to promote it to improve compliance outcomes, and think we have an important role to play as a facilitator of regtech engagement within the sector,” Commissioner John Price said.
In May ASIC outlined its regtech development proposals, including technology trials and a “hackathon”.
Registrations of interest for the ASIC Regtech Showcase will open soon, and more details about the event’s agenda and speakers will be made available.
