RBNZ consults on solvency proposals

The Reserve Bank of New Zealand will hold consultation seminars next week on proposed amendments to insurance solvency standards.

Proposals in the bank’s exposure drafts cover areas such as the solvency treatment of reinsurance, changes to the asset risk capital charge, treatment of guarantees and changes due to the passing of the Financial Reporting Act.

“This package incorporates a number of proposals on which consultation has already taken place,” it says.

The drafts also incorporate proposed amendments to clarify intended application, update standards for other legislative changes and enhance disclosure, the bank says.

The seminars will be held in Auckland on September 29 and Wellington on October 2.
