Queensland clears way for class actions
Class actions can now take place in Queensland, following a change of legislation.
The new law allows Queenslanders to pursue such cases in local courtrooms, rather than having to go interstate.
“For people who are involved in often emotionally and financially difficult circumstances, this can limit their access to justice through unnecessary complexity and inconvenience,” Attorney-General Yvette D’Ath said.
The change brings Queensland into line with other states such as Victoria and NSW.
