Pearce returns to the fold as Liberals’ go-to insurance man
Chris Pearce is back in touch with the insurance industry having accepted a key shadow ministry position with the new team of Liberal leader Malcolm Turnbull.
Mr Pearce becomes shadow minister for financial services, superannuation and corporate law.
Mr Pearce told insuranceNEWS.com.au he will be in charge of insurance issues, superannuation, and financial literacy.
It’s a return to the fold for Mr Pearce who together with Peter Dutton had responsibility for the general insurance industry as senior Treasury ministers of the Howard Government.
While Mr Pearce will be largely responsible for the insurance industry, he said whether he will be sharing some of the responsibility with Joe Hockey, who has been sworn in as finance spokesman, or shadow assistant treasurer Tony Smith, has yet to be determined.
