NZ opens Christchurch claims resolution service
A free one-stop facility has been established to fast-track outstanding Christchurch quake-related insurance claims.
The Greater Christchurch Claims Resolution Service will give homeowners independent case management support, involving specialist engineering services, legal expertise and psychosocial support.
“[It] will operate on a ‘no wrong door’ basis,” Greater Christchurch Regeneration Minister Megan Woods said.
“Anyone with an unresolved claim can call or come to the new office [and] our settlement support brokers will tailor the approach to suit each individual situation.”
“Claimants will have one person in charge of their claim who will drive it along for them.
“They won’t need to call up and speak to a different person all the time. They will know who is responsible for settling their claim.”
The Earthquake Commission (EQC) says it will work with the new service to resolve outstanding Canterbury quake claims.
“The [new service] will provide a single point of contact for customers, navigating the sometimes complex recovery system for them, and facilitating a pathway forward,” EQC Deputy CEO, Canterbury and External Affairs Renee Walker said.
“When a homeowner registers with the service, we will receive notification… and will upload claims information to a portal the homeowner can access directly.”
