NT begins flood mitigation scheme after TIO sale
The NT Government is setting up committees to investigate flood mitigation work in Darwin and Katherine, funded by the sale of the Territory Insurance Office.
It has earmarked $50 million for the works from the proceeds of the sale to Allianz last year.
The Insurance Council of Australia has welcomed the move. CEO Rob Whelan says the funding is a significant commitment, and flood mitigation will repay the initial investment many times over.
