The NSW Government has appointed a WorkCover independent review officer, following the introduction of an external complaints resolution process for its workers’ compensation scheme.

Kim Garling, a former president of the NSW Law Society, has taken up the new role investigating workers’ complaints about insurers, reviewing insurers’ work capacity decisions and encouraging “high-quality complaint resolution”.

He will report annually to the State Government and will provide a free, independent legal help and review service to resolve disputes between workers and insurers.
