The Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) is working hard to protect the financial identity of everyday consumers, but there is plenty that they can and should do to protect themselves.

The regulator is about to launch a new consumer information website to help keep the public informed.

The website, www.protectfinancialid.org.au, is a joint project of ASIC, the Australian Bankers Association and the Australian High Tech Crime Centre. The launch takes place on Thursday, and will be attended by senior personnel from each of the groups involved.
