The Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) has appointed Jan Redfern as Executive Director Enforcement following the retirement of Peter Wood. It’s a difficult position to fill, considering ASIC’s new hardline approach to corporate crime.

Last year alone the regulator jailed 29 corporate criminals and took 67 proceedings resulting in orders against more than 150 people or companies.

Ms Redfern had acted as the Deputy Executive Director Enforcement since 2001.  Mr Wood will take a part-time role as Special Enforcement Counsel.
