Melbourne man bailed over bushfire fraud
A Melbourne man has been accused of trying to make an insurance claim after setting a unit and car on fire in Alexandra two weeks after Black Saturday.
Domenico Battista, 47, of Albert Park, appeared at the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court last Wednesday charged with one count of attempting to obtain property by deception and one count of attempting to obtain financial advantage by deception.
The matter has been adjourned until June 17 and Mr Battista has been released on bail. The case will be heard at the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court unless he elects to appear before a jury.
