Laughlin to leave APRA
Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA) Deputy Chairman Ian Laughlin will leave the insurance regulator at the end of this month when his five-year term expires.
The position has been advertised but the Federal Government has not announced his replacement.
Mr Laughlin joined APRA in July 2010 and has been the public face of the authority at industry conferences, outlining its priorities and approaches to insurance regulation.
He has a background in life insurance, having been a non-executive director at AMP Life and MD of AMP’s UK life insurance subsidiaries Pearl, London Life and NPI.
He held senior management positions at AMP, Suncorp and National Mutual in Australia, New Zealand and Hong Kong, and has served on the council of the Actuaries Institute.
