Insurers pledge $8 million FSL refund
Forty insurers that over-collected fire services levies in Victoria have agreed to refund about $8 million.
Another 15 companies are seeking resolutions on over-collection of a further $2.7 million, according to the Fire Services Levy Monitor.
A more detailed breakdown of amounts disbursed by companies will follow when the resolution process is completed.
Victoria’s levy was removed from insurance premiums and added to council rates last July.
In its final year insurers had to estimate the sum they would be required to pay fire services, with the actual amount not settled until last October.
