Insurance will rally round for VWC
The ICA will work with the Victorian Work Cover Authority and the state government to improve the efficiency of the Work Cover scheme. Dallas Booth General Manager Statutory Classes for the ICA said, ‘the insurance industry has a proper role to play in assisting the government in achieving that outcome.’
Booth said that the introduction of strategies such as reducing the number of claims would contribute to the alleviation of this blowout. But,“if the cost situation is not fixed, there will be no where else to go but to raise the premium rate.”
The Victorian Employers Chamber of Commerce Industry says employers are currently not concerned. Perhaps they will be when the government follows in the path of the NSW government to recover some of the accumulated $1.1 billion in losses to the VWA.
