The insurance sector is expected to be the focus of the Hayne royal commission’s sixth round of hearings from September 10-21.

The royal commission will submit an interim report to the Government by September 30 focusing on the first four rounds of public hearings, including the financial advice scandals of the big four banks and funeral insurance rip-offs in remote communities.

Public submissions close on September 28. The royal commission has received 7337 submissions from the public and companies since January.

A final report is due on February 1 next year.
