Insurance & Care NSW (icare) has contracted UK communications provider BT to protect its customer data and business operations from cyber threats.

BT will deploy its cloud-based Security Incident and Event Management service, which offers integrated threat monitoring, investigation, response and intelligence support.

It will deliver round-the-clock managed service and work with icare to complement the state insurer’s internal cyber security operations team.

“The cyber security services BT is providing will help support the strategic transformation of our security infrastructure,” Chief Information Security Officer Frances Bouzo said.

“The increased visibility, responsiveness and alignment with our internal security operations team provided by BT will enable us to proactively detect and counter security threats, and ultimately protect the critical data that our customers entrust to us.”
