NSW state insurer icare has made changes to its group executive team, appointing Scott North and giving Tony Wessling a new portfolio.

Mr North will be Group Executive of Risk and Governance. He has more than three decades of financial services experience, including senior positions with NAB, CUA and Youi, where he served as chief risk officer.

Mr Wessling will be Group Executive of Workers’ Compensation, moving from the strategy and office of CEO portfolio. He joined icare in 2019 after working at Suncorp and health insurer HCF.

icare MD and CEO Richard Harding says the appointments will help “ensure major transformations under way are fully embedded in 2024”.

Chair John Robertson says he was “impressed with a very high calibre of applicants” for the positions.

“After a rigorous, exacting process to find the best candidates, I’m also very pleased to announce the final selection of two proven leaders, both with strong connections to icare’s staff and the people we serve”, he said.
