icare hails success of new claims model
Insurance & Care NSW (icare) says its new workers’ compensation claims model is performing well.
In the first 60 days since going live on January 1, almost 9000 claims and an additional 3500 injury only notifications were lodged.
Acting Group Executive for icare Workers Insurance Beth Uehling says the change was one of the biggest overhauls to claims management in NSW workers’ compensation for 30 years.
She says features – such as an online portal where employers, workers or their representatives can lodge their notification – have been well received.
“We’ve received great support from employers and injured workers for what is the wholesale modernisation of workers compensation in NSW,” she said.
“The general feedback from employers is that they are pleased with the new system and so far 70% of lodgements are being made through the portal.”
Further system enhancements are on track to be delivered in October.
