Insurance & Care NSW (icare) has appointed John Nagle as Interim CEO to replace Vivek Bhatia, who who begins work at QBE this week as CEO of its Australian and New Zealand operations.

Mr Nagle has served as group executive for workers’ insurance since 2014 and has played a key role in the formation and running of icare and its predecessor.

Previous roles in his 40-year career have included positions as Lumley Insurance CEO, Suncorp EGM corporate and specialty and Vero COO retail.

An icare spokesman told insuranceNEWS.com.au a permanent replacement for Mr Bhatia will be announced “in due course”.

“The icare board is currently working through a process to confirm a new MD and CEO,” the spokesman said.
