Guilty plea over builders’ warranty
Victorian-based builders’ warranty insurance provider Dennis Gentry has pleaded guilty in the Melbourne Magistrates Court to four charges following an investigation by the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC).
Mr Gentry, of Collingwood, pleaded guilty to two charges of making a false document in relation to providing false builders’ warranty insurance certificates to a Victorian builder in April 2004.
He also pleaded guilty to two charges relating to dishonestly using his position as an insurance provider to obtain funds totalling $17,100 from Tenth Zital and Emval by stating he would provide them with valid insurance certificates.
At the time Mr Gentry was operating as an insurance broker and represented several insurance broking businesses. He is due to reappear in the Melbourne Magistrates Court for sentencing on July 12.
